About

Marvin Vogt

Hi, I’m Marvin Vogt, an infrastructure software engineer. I tend to spend most of my time working on software that sits close to operating systems, networks, and infrastructure.

I’m interested in how systems behave in practice across different layers, from application code down into operating systems, schedulers, and networks. Coming into software through infrastructure left me with a lasting preference for systems that stay understandable, predictable, and dependable under real-world conditions.

Much of my work has been about making brittle systems boring again: reducing outages, removing pathological behavior, and turning production mysteries into things that can be reasoned about.

This site is where I keep notes, experiments, projects, and writing, mostly about building, breaking, grokking, debugging, and simplifying systems.

simplicity through conquering complexity, performance as a feature, tests as contracts, velocity through rigour, data before assumptions
